Step 1 : Place the hot dogs and 1 cup of water to a boil in a small skillet. Cook, turning the hot dogs until heated through and the water has evaporated, about 5 minutes. Transfer one of the hot dogs to a clean work surface. Cut the hot dog crosswise into eight 1/2 inch slices. Trim each slice at an angle on either side to make the ears. Use a trimmed piece for the tails of each dog.
Step 2 : Make small slits one either side of one end of the remaining hot dogs for the ears and one slit at the opposite end on top for the tail. Insert the larger hot dog slices, small end in, for the ears and the small trimmed piece for the tail. You may need to remove some of the hot dog in the slits to fit in the ears.
Step 3 : Microwave the scallions for 15 seconds to soften. Wrap one green part of scallion around the head end of hot dog and add another longer piece as the leash. Place the hot dog in the roll. Squeeze some dots of ketchup and mustard as the eyes and dots on the dog. Serve with fresh fruit and veggies. Optional: serve with cherry tomatoes and apple slices.
